I don’t think I could ever have been a better teacher than Neil Cohen. The reason I’m writing this is because I’ve never been able to find a way to learn anything really new in a class that I was genuinely interested in. I’ve just always been so bored by it.
I had the same issue. Ive been teaching for about 10 years now, and Ive been giving lectures. Ive also become part of the teaching community on Twitter, so Ive been following neil’s course on twitter for a while now.
Well, Ive been thinking about those tweets lately, so I was hoping you would be able to give me some tips on teaching newbies, so I can try and help others in their first class.
I think the best way to learn is to give them something that is challenging, and then ask them to think about it and then tell them what they think. I think the best way to teach is to ask them to write down a few things that they think are important in the class, and then to really test their comprehension. If they dont understand what you are asking them, then you can just ask them again for clarification.
If you want your students to understand something, you have to really put a lot of work into it. Trying to force students to read and learn is like saying, “You need to do X to get Y.” You have to really push them to think about what you are asking and then ask them to do it. I think it works great for math because of this.
I think this is a great technique for math. It’s a technique I found useful while teaching math in grad school. A lot of the time I wouldn’t ask the students to read and then just ask them to do their homework. Instead I would ask a series of questions to get them to do the work. You want them to work together and then you can ask them for more direction. It’s a great technique and helps make the class a more collaborative learning experience.
In the past, I would have been a little skeptical, but the main thing that I found helpful in using this technique was how to do math. With the addition of a few new math skills, I would have been able to add basic math skills to the final piece of the puzzle. I remember hearing about a few years back that it was hard to learn math from scratch and that math would be so much more fun than it was in the last few weeks.
I think that when I was in high school my math skills were pretty good. I think that they got even better in college, but I never had so much fun using a calculator. It was like having my own personal teacher.
I just saw this one on TV.
This is a good example of why I am still a huge fan of Neil’s. I’ve seen him do something similar, but unlike most other kids, he’s very much a fan of math.
