I was born in the heart of Thailand and the culture of the country is very important to me. One way to see the differences between Thai and American culture is to compare the methods of self-defense that are used in both cultures. The majority of the fight in my opinion is done using our typical Western style of fighting which involves weapons, strikes, and then strikes. In Thailand, the fight is more about the skills of the person defending themselves from their opponent.
The problem for Thai fighters is that they’re often trained to fight with their bodies and not their minds. This can be a disadvantage because it can cause serious injury or even death. One of the best ways to protect yourself from an attack is to have a good understanding of Thai Boxing and how it’s different from the Western style of fighting.
