By One of the best things about the National Football League is that it is a place where people can still be free and still be competitive and still be together. It is a place where you can still go for a good time and still have fun and still talk and still see who is the best player in the world.
The NFL has a lot of history. I remember back in the early 2000s when the Oakland Raiders were the best damn team in the league. I still think that today. Of course, before that, the Oakland Raiders were the best damn team in the league back in the day. They were so good that in the middle of the 2000s they won a Super Bowl and had a team that would go on to be the best damn team in the league.
I’d say that the NFL’s all-time winningest franchise right now is the Oakland Raiders. They’ve won five Super Bowls (including one last year), have had a franchise quarterback for all of their championships, and are the only team ever to appear in a Super Bowl without a quarterback.
We know that the Raiders franchise was in decline in the early to mid 2000s, but in 2008 the Raiders made their first championship since the late 1970s. The Raiders are still one of the best teams in the league, but they’ve been on a steady decline in recent years. Oakland is currently looking at a drop in attendance to around 30,000, which we’re not sure is good.
The team has been in a bit of a slump for a while now, but they’ve made it back to the Super Bowl in the first year of the new ballpark. To get to the Super Bowl, a team has to win in 10 of its 13 regular season games, plus win or tie the division and play the tie-breaker game with the other team.
Oakland is currently 2-5 in this sort of thing, and to be quite honest, I don’t see how this team can get much worse. Its opponents have been the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers. The Seahawks have won four of the last five Super Bowls, while the Packers have won two in the last three years.
You’d think that would make them a pretty easy one to beat, but actually no. This year’s matchup pits Oakland’s division rivals, the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers are currently 2-4 and their opponents are the Baltimore Ravens. This will be the last time these two teams meet in the NFL. The 49ers are coming off their last loss to the Chicago Bears, while Baltimore is coming off its first loss in the last two years.
The 2009 NFC Championship game was a nail biter. This year’s matchup pits the 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens, two teams that we’re very familiar with, but this year also brings a new look to the rivalry. Before the 49ers/Ravens game, the Ravens’ owner, Hal Mumme, was given a $200,000 million gift from Papa John’s after the team’s win in the Super Bowl.
I can’t believe a team with a Super Bowl win is giving a billion dollars to a city and owner. I can’t believe another team is giving their owners a billion dollars after they just lost their Super Bowl win. I can’t believe this has been a rivalry before. I’d say the rivalry has been over for a really long time now.
This is a bit of a surprise since they have a lot of history in the NFL and an even more famous rivalry with Baltimore Ravens, but I guess you have to be in the right place at the right time to have a rivalry.
